In Maryland, the images show the Purple Line construction from Bethesda to New Carrollton, which began last year, including the start of tunnel construction in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring. In the District, the updated views show the progress of the Capitol Crossing project, showing I-395 fully decked over with new buildings going up above the freeway. The Capitol Crossing project has fully covered I-395 as new buildings rise above the freeway.
Since then, much progress has been made on various transit, road, and development projects across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Prior to the addition of these images, the latest views of the region available of Google Earth were from 2016. These images provide an updated view of some of the region’s latest infrastructure projects. This week, Google Earth added new aerial images of the Washington region from April 30 of this year.
